According to reports, Luxembourg steelmaker ArcelorMittal has commissioned UK equipment manufacturer Primetals Technologies to carry out a comprehensive automation upgrade of its strip mill in Sestao, Spain.
Primetals will provide auxiliary drive equipment and new sensors and will be responsible for system implementation and start-up services. This upgrade is mainly to reduce the downtime of ArcelorMittal Sestao equipment and improve capacity utilization so that it can better cope with the market demand for recycled steel and green steel and move towards a low-carbon transformation. After the upgrade, the plant is expected to increase its annual output to 800,000 tons.
