China’s scrap steel imports soar in Apr m-o-m

China’s government allowed the imports of recycled steel (scrap steel) early this year. According to statistics from China Customs, China imported 76,200 tons of scrap steel this April, soaring by 67% compared to the previous month.

Among them, the imports of stainless steel scrap accounted for around 4,800 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 65.8%, and those of other alloy scrap and cast iron scrap were around 24,900 tons and 6,060 tons, respectively.

In the first four months of this year, China’s scrap steel imports amounted to 131,600 tons, of which stainless steel scrap occupied roughly 21,600 tons.
