Italian Alfa Acciai Group, one of the main manufacturers of reinforcing steel and wire rods in Europe, announced that it would invest in a new spooler production line at its Brescia plant, which would be supplied by equipment supplier Danieli. In 2007, Alfa Acciai became the first manufacturer to produce spooled bars in coils in endless mode, supported by Danieli billet welding and spooling technology.

The advanced equipment will replace the current line and lift coil weight limits from 3 tons to a new range of 2.4 to 8 tons. The spooler will produce high-quality, torsion-free rebar in compact coils for diameters from 8 to 16 mm, with plans to expand this to 18 and 20 mm. This technology is designed to integrate seamlessly with endless rolling methods, casting-rolling, and billet welding, enhancing productivity, yield, and stability. It's understood that the production line is expected to be operational in early 2026.
