The Alloy Steel Producers Association (ASPA) of India planned to file an anti-dumping (AD) request to the federal trade ministry over cheap Chines imports.

India produces around 18-20 million tons of alloy steel every year. However, the association said that they have observed rising imports of alloy and special steel bars and rods from countries like China, Japan, and South Korea, and the import prices from China are relatively low.

Therefore, ASPA and its memember will take action to file the AD petiton to Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) in the near future. 

India has recommended a provisional 12% duty, also known as a safeguard duty, on certain steel products for 200 days earlier in March to cut imports. In the first ten months of the current fiscal year, India’s finished steel imports from China, South Korea, and Japan reached a record high volume.
