According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), US steel mills shipped around 7.44 million net tons in January, rising by 4.1% from the previous month and by 0.7% from the same month a year earlier.

Compared shipments in January 2025 with January 2024, there were notable changes: cold rolled sheet and strip increased by 2%, while corrosion resistant sheet and strip decreased by 6%, and hot-rolled sheet and strip fell by 8%.

Total shipments for the entire year of 2024 were around 86.7 million net tons, a decrease of 3.0% compared to 2023.
