UK steel manufacturer Liberty Steel is urging the government to take decisive action by implementing strategic demand measures, improving cost competitiveness, and making joint investments to reverse the long-term decline of the steel industry and promote sustainable growth. 

The company suggests the government introduce a Steel Obligation similar to the Renewables Obligation which would increase local steel mills' demand for scrap steel and foster the development of a low-carbon and more resilient steel industry chain. 

Liberty Steel emphasizes that, given global economic and political instability, the UK must adjust its policies to create sustainable demand for domestic steel and avoid imbalances in the steel market.
