In response to the "reciprocal tariffs" of the Trump administration of the US, the Chinese government announced countermeasures on April 4. From 12:01 on April 10, a 34% tariff will be imposed on all imported goods originating from the US.
Other specific rules are as follows: 1. The current bonded and tax reduction and exemption policies remain unchanged, and the additional tariffs will not be reduced or exempted. 2. If the goods have been shipped from the place of departure before 12:01 on April 10, and are imported from 12:01 on April 10 to 24:00 on May 13, 2025, the additional tariffs will not be imposed. An export control will also be imposed on seven types of medium and heavy rare earth elements, including samarium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, lutetium, scandium, and yttrium.
In addition, the Ministry of Commerce of China announced on the 4th that 16 US entities will be included in the export control list, prohibiting the export of dual-use items to them, and the ongoing related export activities should be stopped immediately.
China believes that the US practice is inconsistent with international trade rules, seriously undermines China's legitimate rights and interests.
