The preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) showed that the US imported around 192,000 tons of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) sheets in January, rising by 17% compared to the previous month but falling by 0.9% from the same month a year ago.

The imports from Canada still accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 78,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 36.8% and a year-on-year drop of 7.3%. Brazil followed with a supply of around 34,000 tons. Mexico ranked third with roughly 18,000 tons.

During the period, the import value of these products totaled roughly US$222 million, up by 25% month on month and down by 3.8 year on year.
