Vale has partnered with the Royal Commissions of Jubail and Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, to establish a green steel mega hub in Ras Al-Khair, an industrial city on Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast, 100 km north of Jubail. The project, to be developed in two phases, aims to produce up to 12 million metric tons of cold-briquetted iron ore (CBI) annually, supporting the shift to net-zero steel production.
Rogerio Nogueira, Vale’s executive VP for new business, described the agreement as a step toward transforming the Middle East’s steel industry by combining advanced technologies with sustainable practices. This initiative is part of Vale’s strategy to create green steel hubs in key regions, including planned projects in Oman and the UAE while contributing to its emission reduction goals.
