South Korea strengthens trade rules to protect steel industry

19 мар 2025 15:42 reported by Windy Wu

A A A
South Korea will strengthen measures to prevent the circumvention of anti-dumping duties on steel imports, aiming to protect its domestic industry amid rising global trade barriers.

The government plans to revise customs regulations, allowing the Korea Trade Commission to investigate rerouted steel imports. A mill test certificate will be required for all steel products to verify their origin, while a special team under the Korea Customs Service will be created to crack down on falsely labeled imports.

Additionally, South Korea will negotiate exemptions from US steel tariffs and respond to the EU’s carbon levies and trade safeguards, as well as India’s steel import investigation.
