Canada's Border Services Agency (CBSA) has decided to apply retroactive duties on concrete reinforcing bars (rebars) from Turkey for the period from July 2021 to August 2022, which was welcomed by the Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA).

Catherine Cobden, President and CEO of CSPA, said that retroactive tariff assessments are critical to demonstrate Canada’s commitment to fair trade.

The Canadian government must consistently use trade tools such as retroactive tariff assessments and specific market conditions to provide fair conditions for Canadian steel, workers, and communities.
