Mexican long steel producer, Deacero, had ordered five recycling steel scrap shredders from Italy's Danieli. Each new facility would be equipped with shredders, ferrous scrap cleaning, and non-ferrous separation lines for processing light domestic scrap and car bodies.

The new facility used magnetic separation technology, which would allow the company to obtain cleaner scrap. In addition, Danieli's patented inverter drives would reduce power consumption by up to 15%, thus reducing Deacero's operating costs.

The company would primarily use its output to supply its smelters in Mexico.
