Port operations in the Pilbara region of northwest Australia resumed on Monday (January 20) after a two-day halt due to a cyclone.

Pilbara Ports, the largest bulk export port authority in the world, confirmed the storm had moved west and no longer affected the region.

The ports of Dampier, Ashburton, Varanus Island, and Cape Preston had been cleared by January 19. The Pilbara area had around 11 inches of rain and flooding, with continued risks of heavy rain and winds. After the storm moved away from the area, Pilbara Ports resumed operations in phases.

Major miners like BHP, Rio Tinto, and Fortescue, along with energy companies like Chevron and Woodside Energy, encountered flooding this time.
