Trump mulling 10% tariff on Chinese imports from Feb

A A A
US President Donald Trump is considering a 10% tariff on Chinese imports by February 1, citing concerns over fentanyl shipments to Mexico and Canada. Previously, he threatened 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada over undocumented immigration and drug issues.

At a Washington press conference, Trump criticized the EU, vowing to impose tariffs as a response to its tariffs. Besides, he also instructed federal agencies to start a review of trade deals by US partners.

Trump sees tariffs as key to economic growth and job protection, but many economists warn they could raise prices for Americans and invite foreign retaliation.
