Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade made a draft resolution, proposing an extension of the tariff quota for exports of ferrous scrap and waste metals outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) by another year until December 31, 2025.

The tariff quota was extended until the end of this year in July.

The quota is 550,000 tons. The duty for exports within the quota is 5% of the value but not less than EUR 15 per ton. If exceeding the quota, the duty is 5% but not less than EUR 290 per ton.

The relevant data specifies that the export of Russia’s ferrous scrap and waste metals is restricted to specified customs checkpoints. These ports include Arkhangelsk, the Big Port of St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Dudinka, Kaliningrad, Korsakov, Magadan, Murmansk, and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

The government said that the quota restriction is to prevent price increases in the domestic market and ensure domestic metallurgical enterprises' demand for raw materials.
