Zhangjiagang Pohang Stainless Steel Co., Ltd. planned to build three new 50t alloy melting furnaces and their supporting facilities, used with the existing electric arc furnaces, to supply 500,000 tons per year of primary hot metal for the argon oxygen decarburization (AOD) furnace.

There is no new steelmaking capacity after the reformation, with crude steel production capacity unchanged at 1.1 million tons per year.

The plan will cost a total investment of CNY 166.73 million, of which environmental investments account for 4.35% of the total. The project covers an area of around 5,000 square meters.
