Kazakhstan decided to extend the ban on exports of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap and waste for another six months from November 2 to support the domestic steel industry.

The exports regulated by the ban are ferrous scrap, scrapped pipes, rails, and railway parts by all ways of transport. The scope of the ban excludes railway rolling stock parts imported or exported for repair.

The target exports of the restrictions are waste and scrap of copper, aluminum, lead (including lead batteries), other waste and scrap materials containing cadmium or mercury, and steel scrap, including steel ingots and other semi-finished products for remelting.
