Germany’s crude steel output decreases in Aug y-o-y

According to data from the German Steel Federation (WV Stahl), in August, German crude steel output decreased by 1% year on year to about 2.84 million tons.

Meanwhile, German pig iron and hot-rolled steel output were around 1.97 million tons and 2.43 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.2% and 5.7%, respectively.

In the first eight months of this year, Germany’s crude steel production totaled 24.3 million tons, decreasing by 4.2% compared to the corresponding period of last year.

During the same period, Germany’s pig iron output amounted to 16.2 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.1%. Hot-rolled steel production went down by 4.6% year on year to 21.2 million tons.
