In August, India's exports of finished steel fell to its lowest level this year. According to preliminary information from India's Joint Plant Committee (JPC), India's exports of finished steel in August were about 480,000 tons, decreasing by 6% from July and down by 44% from April, the first month of this fiscal year.

The main reasons for the decrease in exports included slow economic growth in Asian countries, holidays for European customers, and continued competition with Chinese sellers.

India remained a net importer in August. Although shipments fell 10% month on month, they remained above 500,000 tons, totaling 530,000 tons.
