South Korea’s rebar imports fall in Jan-Aug y-o-y

According to statistics, South Korea’s rebar imports totaled around 342,900 tons in the first eight months of this year, dropping by 21.1% compared to the same period a year ago. Among them, imports from China accounted for the largest proportion at 53.7%, totaling roughly 184,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 20.3%. Japan ranked second with a share of 44.6%, totaling roughly 153,000 tons, down by 38.3% year on year.

In August alone, South Korea imported around 39,600 tons of rebar, a month-on-month decrease of 17% and a year-on-year increase of 60.8%.
