China's coal imports rise in May y-o-y

According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), China's coal imports totaled around 39.6 million tons in May, decreasing by 2.7% compared to the previous month and rising by 92.6% from the same month a year ago.

The import value was US$4.61 billion, a month-on-month decrease of 7.6% and a year-on-year increase of 35.7%.

In the first five months of this year, China's coal imports amounted to approximately 182.1 million tons, hiking by nearly 90% compared to the corresponding period a year earlier. The value created by these imports reached US$23.2 billion, a year-on-year growth of 50%.
