China’s copper imports decrease in May y-o-y

7 Jun 2023 14:35 reported by Ivy Wei

A A A
In May, China’s copper imports decreased by 4.6% from the same month a year ago. The uncertain economic recovery made China’s consumers decrease their buying demand, while domestic production was still high. In the first five months of this year, China imported copper with 2.14 million tons, decreasing by 11% from the corresponding period last year.

In May, China’s cable and wire production was strong after China’s authority increased its investment in the power sector, which improved copper consumption. However, the output of copper tube, rod, and foil was slow.
