Nucor Corporation, a steel and related products producer in America, announced that it had decided to make a cooperation with ExxonMobil to capture, transport, and store carbon from Nucor’s direct reduced iron (DRI) plant in Convent, Louisiana. ExxonMobil will capture up to 800,000 metric tons of CO2 annually from the DRI plant and store the CO2 at an ExxonMobil-owned site in Louisiana.

The project was planned to start in 2023, and it is in line with Louisiana’s goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
