Hyundai Steel obtains EPD certification for low-carbon H-beam

29 May 2023 14:58 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Hyundai Steel, the second-largest steel manufacturer in South Korea, has received an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification from the Ministry of Environment for its H-beam, becoming the first company in the domestic steel industry to obtain this certification.

A total of 13 Hyundai Steel’s products received EPD certifications and one item got a low-carbon product certification. Hyundai Steel produces its H-beams with recycled iron scrap by using electric furnaces, showing the company’s contribution to a low-carbon society.

Besides, Hyundai Steel has recently established a production system for ultra-high-strength H-beams to reduce steel weight, thereby saving costs and shortening construction periods.
