Taiwan’s rebar consumption expected to decrease in 2023

27 Mar 2023 15:50 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
According to Taiwan Steel and Iron Industries Association, Taiwan’s rebar production was around 6.26 million tons in 2022, and the apparent consumption was about 6.21 million tons, a slight decrease of 2% compared to the previous year.

Steel mills generally believed that rebar consumption would drop this year because the demand from downstream industries slowed down and the real estate projects decreased due to the government's house control policy. The actual decrease needs to be checked month by month.

In 2023, the production of rebar will increase due to the production launch by new mils of Chien Shun Steel and Tung Ho Steel. Therefore, the supply and demand of rebar are under observation.
