US’ section beam imports rise in Jan m-o-m, y-o-y

According to the final Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), in January this year, the US imported around 65,000 tons of section beams, including U, I, H, L, and T section steels, rising by 95% compared to the previous month and by 42% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the imports from Luxembourg accounted for the largest proportion, totaling around 13,200 tons, a month-on-month surge of 1,567.2% and a year-on-year hike of 15%. Other import sources included Spain (around 11,300 tons), the UK (around 10,300 tons), Canada (around 8,400 tons), and Mexico (around 8,000 tons).

During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$76 million, up by 77.3% month on month and by 45% year on year.
