RUSAL’s Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter starts master aluminum alloy production

7 Feb 2023 16:50 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
RUSAL’s Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Smelter started to produce master aluminum alloys, with a capacity that can meet around 50% of RUSAL’s demand for master alloys.

The investment in this project of master aluminum alloys was US$7.5 million, with an annual production capacity of more than 5,000 tons.

The produced master alloys will be mainly for internal uses, while RUSAL also planned to sell some to third-party customers.

The new plant can reduce not only supply risks but also the carbon footprint by using recycled aluminum in the production process. Besides, the new plant can also produce other types of master alloys with rare-earth and rare elements such as cerium, erbium, yttrium, and ytterbium, which are used in the production of high-tech alloys.
