TCUD: Turkey steel industry maintains optimistic attitude towards 2023

7 Feb 2023 16:58 reported by Isora

A A A
According to an announcement from Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in December last year, Turkey's crude steel output declined by 20% year on year to 2.7 million tons. In 2022, the annual crude steel output of Turkey was summed as 35.1 million tons, dropping by 12.9% compared with the previous year.

Due to the data above, Turkey was considered to be one of the countries that suffered a notable steel output decrease in 2022. However, it was believed that 2023, compared with 2022, is going to be a better year for Turkey.

With energy prices hopefully dropping to a reasonable level as war conditions become stable, making full use of actual and new production capacities could help Turkey's steel annual output return to 40 million tons this year.
