Japan’s ferrous scrap exports down in 2022 y-o-y

According to statistics, Japan’s ferrous scrap exports amounted to approximately 6.3 million tons in 2022, a year-on-year decrease of 13.6%. Among them, the exports to South Korea accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 3.1 million tons, a year-on-year hike of 1.5%. Vietnam ranked second with 1.3 million tons, followed by Taiwan’s 629,000 tons, sliding by 42% and rising by 6% year on year, respectively.

In December last year, Japan exported around 446,900 tons of ferrous scrap, down by 9.7% compared to the year-ago level.
