The European Steel Association (EUROFER) indicated that steel was the foundation of the net-zero age. Steel can be applied from wind turbines to electric vehicles. Implementing the new EU Industrial Plan was essential to adopt a value chain approach, which was crucial for all key upstream and downstream sectors to reach the EU’s climate and circular economy objectives.

Apart from that, the European steel industry was expected to focus deeply on CO2 emission reduction in the next few years, and 60 industrial-scale projects were ready to be implemented before 2030. Also, providing abundant and affordable low-carbon energy and the field to make low-CO2 steel more competitive with global competitors were important.
