Closure of Las Bambas project to exacerbate shortage of global raw material supply

3 Feb 2023 15:41 reported by Eric Xiao

In view of the local demonstrations and protests in Peru, transportation was interrupted, which affected the production of the Las Bambas mine.

MMG Limited said that if the situation remains unchanged, the company will be forced to stop production and transfer production capacity to a maintenance status.

Las Bambas is one of the world's largest copper-molybdenum mines, with an annual output of 311,000 tons of copper and 3170 tons of molybdenum.

The problem of material supply in Peru has aroused concerns in the market; global prices have risen rapidly.
