POSCO's output recovers steadily

3 Feb 2023 15:19 reported by Eric Xiao

Posco announced that it produced 1.19 million tons of crude steel and 1.05 million tons of products in January of this year. Production of crude and finished steel has surpassed the 1 million metric ton mark in just four months since the floods hit in September last year.

Crude steel output (520,000 tons) and product output (260,000 tons) fell sharply in September last year when factories were shut down due to floods. Since then, as factories have resumed work, crude steel and product production have also shown signs of recovery. All 17 rolling mills at the Pohang plant have normally been operating since the 20th of last month.

The Posco calculated that Posco suffered a total of KRW 1.34 trillion in damage due to the floods. In the fourth quarter of last year alone, it led to a loss of KRW 904.5 billion.
