Steelmaker Evraz North America will lay off more than 100 employees in Canadian mills. An Evraz North America spokesperson confirmed the news and indicated the layoff was because of unfairly traded imports.

In fact, 41% of Canadian steel used was from imports. In the first eleven months of 2022, Canada imports 1.6 million metric tons of oil country tubular goods, increasing by 32.2% compared to the volume in 2021. Among them, the US accounted for 24% of total Canadian tubular imports. The followings were China (23%) and South Korea (9.1%).
