Vietnam's scrap imports fall in Dec m-o-m

According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s scrap imports totaled around 206,400 tons in December 2022, falling by nearly 18% compared to the preceding month.

During the period, Vietnam imported most scrap from Japan, totaling around 70,300 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 51.4%. Australia ranked second with 32,000 tons, down by 73.6%; followed by the US’ 30,200 tons, down by 81% year on year.

In 2022, Vietnam’s scrap imports dropped by 34.2% year on year to 4.16 million tons. Among them, imports from Japan accounted for the largest proportion, totaling 1.31 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 42%.
