US’ scrap exports fall in Nov m-o-m, y-o-y

According to statistics from the US International Trade Commission (USITC), the US exported around 1.23 million tons of scrap in November last year, falling by 27.6% compared to the previous month and by 7.5% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, the exports to India accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 320,500 tons, a month-on-month increase of 2% and a year-on-year surge of 599%. Other major destinations of US scrap exports included Turkey (around 183,200 tons), Mexico (around 179,200 tons), and Taiwan (around 112,100 tons).

During the period, these exports were worth approximately US$512 million, down by 14.3% month on month and by 17.4% year on year.
