Taiwan’s scrap imports up in Dec m-o-m

According to statistics from Taiwan Customs, Taiwan’s scrap imports totaled around 239,000 tons in December last year, up by 17% compared to the previous month.

Among them, the US remained the largest source of Taiwan’s scrap imports, supplying around 101,100 tons, a month-on-month increase of 55%. Japan ranked second with 55,100 tons, followed by the Dominican Republic’s 18,700 tons and Australia’s 15,200 tons.

In terms of exports, Taiwan merely exported approximately 2,300 tons of scrap in December last year, a month-on-month decrease of 13%. India was the major recipient, importing 550 tons of scrap from Taiwan in December 2022.
