Kenyan Devki Steel Mills to build crude steel plant with Sh50 billion

A A A
Kenyan steel mill Devki Steel Mills Limited had spent 50 billion shillings to build a crude steel mill in the Samburu-Chengoni district.

The mill owns the most advanced production facilities in Kenya and is the only steel mill that used iron ore to produce steel in Africa, except South Africa. The mill's modern production lines can produce high-quality wire rods and billets.

The annual crude steel production capacity of the steel plant is 500,000 tons. The steel plant mainly uses blast furnace technology, uses internal power generation and supplements it with a national grid supply to reduce electricity costs. It is directly connected with the metre-gauge railway, which reduces transportation costs.

The crude steel mill would be one of the largest steel mills in East and Central Africa.
