Sindicato 1, the workers union at Chile's Escondida, the world’s largest copper mine by production, decided to start a strike on November 21 and 23 because of labor demands, saying union members will stop working on all shifts but will provide minimum services.

The union stated that the irregularities by Minera Escondida, which manages the mine and is controlled by BHP Group, have continued and didn’t take preventive measures in spite of security incidents. However, Minera Escondida has denied the union's accusations.
