US' steel production in weed ending Oct 1 decreases y-o-y

The US’ steel and scrap market conditions remained low in October. Scrap prices did not recover in September, and steel production was well below last year's production levels.

The Washington-based American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the US' steel production just hit 1.7 million tons in the week ending October 1, 2022, decreasing by 7.6% year on year but increasing by 1% week on week.

In the first nine months of this year, the US' steel production was 66.1 million tons, decreasing by 4.1% year on year.
