Japan's Mitsui Mining expects zinc output to rise in H2 FY22-23

The Japanese biggest zinc smelter Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. planned to produce 110,800 tons of refined zinc in the second half of the fiscal year 2022-23. Zinc is mainly used as an anti-corrosion coating during the manufacture of galvanized steel.

The company estimated that the zinc production is 112,400 tons and 110,800 tons in the first half of the fiscal year 2022-23 and the second half of the fiscal year 2022-23, respectively. The estimated production of lead is 35,000 tons each in these two periods.

In the second half of the fiscal year 2021-22, the zinc output was 110,600 tons, and the lead output was 34,600 tons.
