Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd, said that the growth of the global containership supply will increase quicker than the demand over the upcoming 24 months, which alleviated the market's concerns about the tight supply of containers.

According to Hapag-Lloyd, the demand in the container ship market was expected to grow by 3% next year, and the fleet capacity will rise by 7%.

However, Hapag-Lloyd also pointed out that major uncertainties still exist in the market. The forecast is quite uncertain due to the Russia-Ukraine war, continued disruption of the global supply chain, as well as the COVID-19 epidemic.
