Toyota reduces North American production for Aug again

Japan’s Toyota Motor Corp. said it decided to reduce its North American production by 7,000 vehicles in August due to the continued chip shortage, while the reduction has become smaller. This production cut followed a reduction of 5,000 vehicles in July.

Toyota’s lost production for the North American region was expected to reach 205,000-220,000 vehicles in 2022, and the total lost output came to 470,000-565,000 vehicles since the firm started the production cut last August.

The global automobile industry has been impacted greatly by the short supply of chips since early 2021.
