According to World Steel Association (worldsteel), Turkey produced approximately 3.2 million tons of crude steel in May, which went down by 5.9% from the previous month and also dropped by 1.14% compared to the same month a year ago.
In the first five months of 2022, Turkey totally produced roughly 16 million tons of crude steel, a decrease of 2.8% from the same period a year earlier.
Energy prices in Turkey were raised from June 1 and were expected to rise further in July, coupled with a slower market, which could lead to a continued decline in crude steel production in the coming months.
