EC plans to propose updated steel import safeguard measures

According to the report, the European Commission (EC) proposed to modify steel import safeguard measures and the proposal is processing to apply on July 1, 2022. Before that, the EU reallocated quotas on imported of 26 product categories from Russia and Belarus.

The European Association of Non-Integrated Stainless Steel and Aluminum Importers & Distributors (Euranimi) explained that the distance between their economy and that of geopolitics has telescoped, meanwhile, European Union also confronted most material shortages and price rising, inflation, extremely high shipping costs due to port congestion, the US administration removing some of the Section 232 measures.
