Global container prices & lease prices fall for first time

26 Oct 2021 15:32 reported by Lena Yang

A A A
Container prices have fallen since the beginning of October, which provided a temporary respite for the shipping industry and importers. Besides, the average lease price of used 40-foot high cabinets dropped as well.

Overall container prices at 46 ports worldwide also had a mild decline. The main driving force was concentrated in China, Vietnam, and the US. It showed that congestion, which has caused freight costs to soar around the world, is improving.

Major retailers kept inventory full before the Christmas holidays. The demand will remain strong. Freight will continue to be high. However, there may be some improvements in early November and in February after the Chinese New Year in 2022.
