Russia's Metalloinvest said that it has sighed a contract with the Italian engineering equipment manufacturer Tenova to transform the heating furnace No.2 at the Oskol Electrometallurgical Plant (OEMK) steel plant in Belgorod Oblast, west Russia.
The heating furnace was scheduled to be commissioned in December 2022, which will increase the production of high value-added steel, improve production efficiency, and reduce emissions.
In addition, OEMK can increase the amount of the high-value special bar quality (SBQ) and enable consumers to alleviate costs.
Metalloinvest has invested around 460 million rubles in the project, including new electric arc furnaces and ladle furnaces, which can increase the annual output of SBQ by approximately 300,000 tons in 2023-24.
