According to the Argentine Steel Chamber (CAA), the country's crude steel production in August this year totaled 423,400 tons, a drop of 1.5% compared to the previous month. However, if compared to the same month last year, the production was up by 25.9%.
CAA highlighted that the agricultural machinery and implements sector maintained good demand levels, as well as the construction sector, where cement consumption increased by 4.1% compared to July.
Meanwhile, the automotive sector had a growth of 20.1% in the production of vehicles this August compared to July; however, the global shortage of semiconductors and other important components affected with some stops. Energy and household appliances kept their demand at stable levels, too, according to CAA.
