Steel Dynamics invests in Heartland plant expansion

Steel Dynamics (SDI), a US-based steelmaker, announced that it would invest in the expansion of its Heartland plant in Terre Haute, Indiana, in order to build a galvanizing and paint production line.

It was understood that SDI would invest US$231 million to increase the area of the Heartland plant from the original 800,000 square feet to 1.19 million square feet.

The expansion site would be adjacent to the Heartland plant. The company was expected to invest US$126 million to build a galvanizing production line and US$60 million to build a paint line costing line.
