Brazilian mining giant Vale is on track to meet its target of producing 400 million tons of iron ore by the end of 2022 or early 2023, according to Vale's CEO Eduardo Bartolomeo.
Vale produces one million tons of iron ore a day. The firm produced 385 million tons in 2018 before the Brumadinho dam disaster.
Vale aimed to produce iron ore between 310 million tons and 330 million tons by 2020.
By 2023, according to Bartolomeo, only 20% of its capacity will be limited by upstream dams, similar to those in Brumadinho and Mariana.
