China Tangshan imposes production restriction till March 2021

16 Oct 2020 16:08 reported by Raul Lee

A A A
It was reported that China’s top steel-producing city Tangshan is imposing restrictions on sintering and blast furnaces starting from October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. The steel mills are classified into 5 tiers and need to cut the production by up to 45%.

However, the restrictions are not as stringent in 2019-20, market participants said.

The affected production would be around 3.6 million tons less from 2019 as the curb ratios shrank from last year's 20-50% to 10-45%, although restriction’s duration for this year will be 16 days longer than the previous year.
